How to Transfer a Domain?

Domain transfer is the official process of moving your domain name from your current registrar to another registrar. The most important requirement is that your domain must have been registered with the current registrar for at least 60 days.

During the transfer, your domain name itself does not change — only the company that manages it.

Step-by-Step Domain Transfer

1- Unlock Your Domain

Most domains are locked with a “transfer lock” for security. Before the transfer, you need to remove this lock from your current management panel.

2- Obtain the Auth/EPP Code

Request the transfer code called “EPP” or “Auth Code” from your current registrar. This code must be provided to the registrar where the transfer will be made. This code is mandatory for the transfer to the new company (eurovdc.eu).

What is an EPP Code?

The EPP code or Auth Code (Auth-Info, Transfer Code) is a security password used to transfer a domain name from one registrar to another.

3- Initiate the Transfer to EuroVDC.eu

On the EuroVDC.eu website, go to the Domain Transfer section, enter the domain name you want to transfer, and click the Transfer button to follow the instructions. From the EuroVDC.eu management panel where you created your account, create a transfer request and enter the EPP code you obtained.

4- Domain Transfer Approval Process

Your current registrar may send you a notification via email to confirm the transfer. Your email address must be current and accessible. Once you approve, the process begins.

5- Domain Transfer Completion Time

The transfer is usually completed within 5–7 days. Your domain will then be managed by EuroVDC.eu.

Important Considerations Before Transfer

  • 60-Day Rule: Newly registered or recently transferred domains cannot be transferred again within 60 days.
  • Domain Expiration: If your domain is about to expire during the transfer, it is advisable to renew it beforehand.
  • Email and Hosting: Domain transfer only covers the domain name. Website files and email services remain with your hosting provider.
  • Updated Email: Carefully review and approve confirmation emails from both your old registrar and EuroVDC.eu or ICANN. Your email address must be current to avoid disruptions during the process.

Advantages of Domain Transfer

  • More affordable renewal fees at the new registrar
  • Better customer service and technical support
  • Centralized management by consolidating all domains under one company

Possible Risks and Considerations During Transfer

  • Transfer rejection: Incorrect EPP code or locked domain prevents transfer
  • Time delay: The transfer process may take several days; during this time, your domain remains active but management does not change
  • Extra fees: Some companies may charge additional fees for the transfer
