Android and iOS Email Setup

Android and iOS Email Setup

Set up EuroVDC email in Gmail, Samsung Email, and iPhone or iPad Mail with secure IMAP and authenticated SMTP, step by step. Verify SSL, passwords, notifications, and synchronization behavior.

Android: Gmail app

EuroVDC IMAP SMTP POP3 ports diagram
EuroVDC secure ports at a glance: IMAP 993, SMTP 587/465, POP3 995 — hostname depends on the product.
  1. Open Gmail, tap the profile picture, then Add another account → Other.
  2. Enter the full address and select Personal (IMAP).
  3. For incoming mail, use the full address as username, the mailbox password, and securemail.eurovdc.eu for Corporate Email. Choose SSL/TLS and port 993.
  4. For outgoing mail, keep “Require sign-in” enabled. Use the same credentials with SMTP 587 STARTTLS or 465 SSL/TLS.
  5. Choose sync frequency, notifications, and attachment preferences, then send a test message to yourself.
Step 1 — What you will see: Google, Exchange, and Other provider choices.

Select Other; do not enter the Microsoft 365 or Outlook account flow.

Step 2 — What you will see: Incoming SSL and port fields.

Pair SSL/TLS with 993. Correct the hostname instead of permanently bypassing certificate warnings.

Android: Samsung Email

  1. Open Samsung Email → Menu → Settings → Add account → Other.
  2. Enter address/password, then choose Manual setup → IMAP account.
  3. Enter incoming and outgoing details. Outgoing server authentication must be enabled with the full address.
  4. After toggling SSL, check whether the app changed the port. It may fill 993/465 automatically; port 587 must use STARTTLS.

Names vary by One UI release. “Email sync period” controls how many days remain on-device, while “sync schedule” controls how often new mail is checked. Choose automatic/push when immediate alerts matter, or consider 15–30 minutes for battery savings.

iPhone and iPad: iOS Mail

  1. Open Settings → Apps → Mail → Mail Accounts → Add Account → Other → Add Mail Account. On older iOS releases, Mail may appear directly in Settings.
  2. Enter name, complete address, password, and description; select IMAP.
  3. Under Incoming and Outgoing Mail Server, fill hostname, full username, and password separately. Do not leave outgoing password blank when iOS labels it optional.
  4. After saving, open account → Account → Advanced; SSL must be on and IMAP port must be 993.
  5. Under SMTP → Primary Server, enable the server and use password authentication with 587/STARTTLS or 465/SSL-TLS.
Step 3 — What you will see: The IMAP tab and two separate server groups.

Enter credentials in both groups; iOS's “optional” label does not apply to EuroVDC SMTP.

App passwords and synchronization

For this standard mailbox setup, use the mailbox password unless an app password was separately issued. If an external identity provider enables two-factor authentication and explicitly creates an app password, follow that provider's instructions only. Test Wi‑Fi and mobile data separately, and ensure battery optimization does not suspend Gmail or Samsung Email.

Mobile troubleshooting

  • If receiving works but sending fails, check SMTP sign-in, password, and the 587/STARTTLS pairing.
  • If only mobile data fails, compare Wi‑Fi to isolate network filtering; test 465 SSL/TLS as the controlled alternative.
  • If password prompts repeat, verify the password in webmail and update the stored mobile account.
  • Before removing an old device, confirm Sent and custom folders have synchronized to the server.

EuroVDC product note and shared technical reference

First confirm which product hosts the mailbox. Corporate Email (Mailcow) uses securemail.eurovdc.eu for incoming and outgoing mail. Hosting email (DirectAdmin) uses mail.yourdomain.com or the server hostname supplied in the service activation details. Using one product's hostname for the other can cause connection or certificate-name errors even when the password is correct.

ProtocolSecure portEncryptionPurpose
IMAP993SSL/TLSRecommended; synchronizes folders between devices
SMTP587STARTTLSRecommended outgoing connection
SMTP465SSL/TLSAlternative outgoing connection
POP3995SSL/TLSOnly for specific download requirements

The username is always the full email address. SMTP authentication is mandatory; use the same full username and mailbox password as incoming mail. Do not select Microsoft 365 or Outlook.com, and do not use Microsoft-hosted server names. Corporate webmail is https://mail.YOURDOMAIN.com/user; replace YOURDOMAIN.com with your domain.

Client area and DirectAdmin path

  1. Sign in to the EuroVDC client area.
  2. Open the relevant product, then view Connection Settings and the DNS wizard.
  3. Record the server name, account-specific DKIM text, and displayed DNS status.
  4. For Hosting email, sign in at https://SERVER:2222 or https://DOMAIN:2222. Open Email Accounts, create or locate the mailbox, then use “+” → Configure Email Client on its row to obtain the exact hostname and ports.

autodiscover and autoconfigCNAMEsecuremail.eurovdc.eu

Autodiscover and autoconfig help compatible applications propose server settings; they do not remove password security or SMTP authentication. Always compare discovered values with the product screen. DNS changes may appear differently across networks until cached records expire.

Quick checklist

  • Corporate Email and Hosting email have been distinguished.
  • The full email address is entered as the username.
  • 993/SSL-TLS and either 587/STARTTLS or 465/SSL-TLS are paired correctly.
  • SMTP authentication is enabled and its password is not blank.
  • Webmail, receiving, and sending have been tested separately.
  • DNS matches the wizard, and the exact error and test time are recorded.

For a visual reference, download the Email Setup Card from PDF help files. If the issue remains, send the mailbox address, device/application version, complete error, and screenshot to support@eurovdc.eu. EuroVDC services operate from Sofia, EU; never include your password in a support request.
